In January 2001 Island Waste Services was notified that it had been successful in its bid for the Isle of Wight Councils Street Sweeping contract. Operations commenced on 2nd April 2001.
This new contract was the first to cover the whole of the Isle of Wight, by including an extra 250km of road and all the Islands cycle ways. It also specified an improved standard to which streets were to be cleansed as well as increasing the frequency for servicing dog and litterbins.
