There is a strong commitment within the company to influence and change the culture of the organisation to improve our safety performance.

Health and Safety is a major point of focus for all our sites and operations. To reflect this, Island Waste Services embarked upon the British Safety Council's Five Star audit scheme in 2006. This international quality assured rating system, provided an initial evaluation of our health and safety performance. At the second independent audit in February 2007 Island Waste Services was awarded five stars.

We are constantly working both with our own personnel and with representatives from our Parent Company to maintain our BSC 5* Certification and to further improve our H&S performance and this year have embarked upon the Occupational Health and Safety Accreditation Service's 18001 procedures.
